Our Garden

I will be your flower in the winter
Your cool wind in the summer
I will be your husband (You will be my husband)
You will be my wife (I will be your wife)

We will forge through life together
And the day we came together
Will shine on in our hearts and minds
As we hone the art of compromise

Together we will tender
This life we made together
Like a garden in the desert
Until death does us one day part.... G. Rizzo

Now and Forever Vow… *

Today we are gathered together to witness the union of ____ and ___ in the
commitment of their life long journey together, the estate of holy matrimony.

Marriage is a commitment of souls, two best friends embarking on a journey
together to the same end – a companionship of dreams and goals together.

Someone very wise has said “Love does not consist into simply gazing into
each others’ eyes, but looking outward together in the same direction.”

In addition, love does not consist in changing each other, because people do
not change. A kiss will not change a frog into a prince or princess.  Marriage
is not a fairy tale, it is work, and you must be up to the task.

Love consists in validating each other and at times compromising out
of love for each other, but never forsaking each other, never giving up.

Put your hands together and look at them now… young, supple and eager to begin your new life together.   Look at those same hands every anniversary of your life together and remember how they looked today, and rekindle the love and sense of commitment that you feel today.

Wedding rings are a symbol of your commitment and love for each other.
By placing your rings on your fingers now, you commit to a union of
your souls for as long as you both may live.

(Groom places ring on bride; Bride places ring on groom).

(Pastor) In unison, repeat after me:
(Bride and Groom repeat in unison, hands joined)

“I shall always seek to keep the love that exists in my heart for you today (pause) and all of our days together,(pause) through life’s inevitable ups and downs,(pause) happiness and sorrows (pause.)  I will do my best to support you in all your endeavors, (pause) and if compromise is necessary, we will talk it over (pause), never ending a day together angry (pause).

Together we will look forward to a better tomorrow and always
seek to keep our priorities each other.”

Pastor speaks to Bride and Groom:

Love combined with a positive attitude goes a long way, and we never know if we may or may not be granted a tomorrow.  It is up to you to make your tomorrows brighter through your love, commitment and communication with each other.

Pastor speaks to Guests:

Friends and family who are gathered here today:
Do you vow to support this couple in any way possible during their
journey through life together?  (guests say “yes”)

Is there anyone here who believes this union should not be so?
If yes, speak now or forever hold your peace.

With the power invested in me by the state of  ____, I now pronounce you husband and wife.  You may now embrace and kiss…..  G. Rizzo

The Apache Wedding Blessing

Now you will feel no rain
for each of you will be
shelter to the other.

Now you will feel no cold
for each of you will be
warmth for the other.

Now there is no more loneliness
for each of you will be
companion to the other.

Now you are two bodies
but there is only one life
before you.

Go now to your dwelling place
to enter into the days
of your togetherness.

And may your days be good
and long upon the earth.

A Sonnet by Elizabeth Barrett Browning

How do I love thee?
Let me count the ways
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach
when feeling out of sight
For the ends of being and ideal grace
I love thee to the level of everydays
Most quiet need
by sun and candle-light
I love thee freely
as men strive for right
I love thee purely
as they turn from praise
I love thee with a passion put to use
in my old griefs
and with my childhoods faith
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
with my lost saints
I love thee with the breadth
smiles, tears, of all my life
and if god choose
I shall but love thee better after death

You're My Angel
(for vow or unity prayers accompanied by the flute)

You're my Angel
You're the One I've been waiting for
You're my Angel
No one else could love you more

You're my Angel
Heaven Sent You from up above
You're My Angel
You were made for me to love...

I wasn't looking
When I found you
You know love is hard to find,
And the moment you stop searching
It will bring you peace of mind.

And you're my Angel
No one else loves me like you do
You're my Angel
I am so in love with you.

You're my Angel
In my heart you will always be
you're my Angel
Heaven sent you straight to me...

I wasn't looking
When I found you
You know love is hard to find
And just when I stopped searching
You appeared and made my life fine..

And you're my Angel
No one else loves me like you do
You're my Angel
I am so in love with you.

And you're my Angel
In my heart you will always be
You're My Angel
Heaven sent you to love me.
